For us? This ’63 Custom Shop Telecaster embodies everything we love about a great Tele.
Telecaster players, like all electric guitar players if we're honest, tend to be a particular lot. Whether it's the amount of twang, a favorite neck profile, bridge/neck pickups, the perfect weight, or the choice between ash and alder, we Tele devotees have or ideal version of the perfect Tele and will go to great lengths to find "the one".
For us? This ’63 Custom Shop Telecaster embodies everything we love about a great Tele.
To start with the shallow stuff, Aged Olympic White with a rosewood board and a mint guard always gets our attention, so we were "in" the second we saw this one. The bridge pickup delivers a richer midrange, edging into P90 territory with no harsh treble—just chimey and twangy with just an ounce of P90 snarl. The neck pickup offers a hollow, Strat-like quality, blending seamlessly with the bridge for a versatile sound across the board.
The neck itself, with its beautifully aged finish, features a comfortable '60s Oval C carve and larger 6105 frets making for a really comfy playing experience. It plays snappy and responsive, with impressive resonance and sustain even when unplugged.
If this sounds like your ideal Tele, you're in for a treat. And let's face it, Aged Olympic White with a rosewood board and a mint guard is always a stunning combination.
