We sold this Ellis F5 Special when it was new, back in 2014, and it's been lovingly well-kept ever since. Many players holding this mandolin would describe the condition as mint; but if you get out the magnifying glass you'll find a couple pinhead-sized impressions on the top finish and a small fingernail impression on the back of the neck. These would be very hard to turn up in a photograph, and, again, would likely be imperceptible to most onlookers. The sound is classic Ellis: woody and powerful, with a three-dimensional shimmer in the high end. This is a fantastic choice for a player looking to step up to the echelon of luther-grade mandolins.
