Collings' ukuleles share in many of the qualities we have all come to know and love in their guitars and mandolins: refinement, exceptionally build quality, top-shelf materials, serious volume and projection, and full, bold tone with great clarity and note-to-note separation. This UT2 captures all that and more, with a lovely warmth imparted by the figured mahogany top.
The tonewoods are, indeed, the stars of this show. The mahogany back and sides, in particular, boast that all-too-rare, highly flamed figure. The instrument comes to us in very good overall condition. A close inspection reveals just some standard finish settling, light scratches on the top, noticeable only in reflected light, and a slight mark on the top reverse of the headstock.
