We haven't had a Merlot-finished I-35 in the shop in a bit, and we're quickly reminded of how elegant a finish this is, particularly on this model. Where some might look at Faded Cherry like the Old Fashioned at your favorite whiskey bar, the Merlot has the Michelin-rated French restaurant level of sophistication. Darker, richer reds that can appear silky smooth at one angle, and showcase densely figured depth at another.

We love the looks, no doubt about it. But when it comes to sound, this I-35 yields some of the most incredibly authentic low output PAF tones available, thanks to the stellar work of Ron Ellis. For those unfamiliar with his work, Ron has been winding custom pickups for many years and has built up an immense following for good reason. His pickups are featured in some of the most prestigious electric guitars on the market today, and as offered in this I-35LC, they can go toe-to-toe with the best vintage and modern examples.
