This remarkable sounding, turn-of-the-new-century Collings D2HA features an extremely special set of Brazilian Rosewood. The guitar was originally commissioned by our colleague, Dexter Johnson, whose Carmel Music shingle sold Collings guitars made from his private stock of old-growth Brazilian -- known for its gorgeous, straight-grained appearance. This wood is truly the kind of stuff that wouldn't look out of place on a 1930's Martin D-28! The guitar's tone is lush and powerful, with a cavernous, reverby quality to match its fundamental midrangey crack. This is, quite simply, the poster boy Collings bluegrass guitar!
Condition: for a twenty year-old guitar, we'd call it "very good, plus." The back and sides show normal finish sink, and a few minor shirt button swirls. The guitar has been played, and exhibits a few small dings on the top consistent with regular use. The setup remains excellent, with plenty of saddle height. And again, the quality of Brazilian Rosewood found on this guitar simply isn't available anymore. Priced with its original hard case (one missing latch). On consignment; shipping calculated at checkout.
