Pulling in some influence from modern-era builder aesthetics, this City Limits boasts a beautiful flamed Maple top and some of the best electric guitar pickups out there.
"Deluxe" might signal more of an elevated aesthetic of sorts, which this City Limits surely showcases. But in this case, we're finding the tone is the most "Deluxe" of the offerings in this new CL.
We just can't seem to get enough of the combination of a 50s style wraparound tailpiece and humbuckers - a nod to hot rod mods done on 50s LPs. The slinkier feel of the wraptail setup also yields a more immediate attack and fundamental response. Capture that energy via a pair of Throbak SLE101+ humbuckers and you've got yourself a pretty serious solidbody!
The '59 Faded Crimson tends to be an overlooked choice on the CL these days, but we're reminded that it still works incredibly well when paired with the right plastics. It's a classic color on a sleek refined platform, marrying the modern with traditional in the right ways. The cream plastics bring more vintage flair into the fold, and the highly figured Maple top toting that modern "AAA" characteristic.
Another fabulous Collings build - and exceptionally lightweight at that - with a fresh spec that keeps us wanting more guitars from our one of our favorite guitar builders!
