Steve Carr and his small team in Pittsboro, North Carolina aren't chasing reissues. They're studying what made the great old circuits feel the way they do, then thoughtfully refining them with the kind of touches working players actually want.

The Fender Bassman is a perfect example. Carr captures the vibe of those vintage circuits in the Impala - the bloom, the touch sensitivity, the way the amp opens up under your hands - and adds a wonderful all-tube reverb and a master volume to the mix.

Why We Love This

The result is an incredibly versatile amp. The master lets you find thick, saturated tones at lower volumes, which means you're no longer choosing between great tone and a workable stage or living-room level. Combined with the reverb and the amp's natural dynamics, the combinations are essentially endless: clean and dimensional with the master up, gritty and singing with it pulled back, and everything in between.
