Our new Master Series Figured Koa Top T-Deluxe has garnered a lot of attention since arriving at the shop. It's a stunning guitar and definitely one that grabs your attention when scanning our wall of guitars. Then you plug it in...
Using Fender T-style guitars as a leaping off point, Bill Asher's T-Deluxe model sports an offset body which balances beautifully and adds a more deluxe feel than your average Telecaster. What does remain is the versatility of a great Tele pushed even a touch further with the inclusion of Asher's own T-Blade & Black T pickups and a 6 position Veritone switch.
Played acoustically, this ash body / Koa topped guitar has a lively, punchy response with tons of snap & sustain. The chunky 60's C shaped neck carve and 12" radius neck feels incredible - gently broken-in, with a nod toward modern playability (given the radius).
Plugged in, the bridge pickup yields some muscular Tele twang and the neck position delivers a killer hollow, round, Strat neck pickup-like tone (while the neck pickup looks like a Charlie Christian pickup, it's not tonally it should be noted).
Mix in a 6 position Veritone circuit (chicken head knob), which acts much like a wah-wah pedal, and you can achieve anything from Tele to Junior to faux archtop to controlled (read: useable in a live setting) fuzz tones.
These are killer guitars that make meaningful improvements on a classic. Highly recommend checking one out! Priced with G&G hardshell case.
