Why We Love This

We can still remember being burgeoning guitar players in the early 1990s, flipping through our guitar magazines, and encountering the original 2-page ad for the revolutionary Parker Fly. It was all black and looked like it was from outer space - and it was awesome!

Fast forward a few more years and we had the same reaction seeing Reeves Grabrels slinging a Parker Fly as the guitarist for David Bowie. Reeves, with his iconoclastic style, seemed a perfect fit for a Fly.

Imagine our excitement when this 1998 "Pre-Refined" Fly came in on consignment. We've played, and owned, Parkers over the years but it's been a very long time since we played one. They're truly remarkable feats of engineering (look at a picture of the back of the guitar to see what we mean). Ken Parker, who resides not too far from our shop, is an iconoclast himself - and it seems an undersell to simply call him a luthier. Inventor is likely a better adjective.

Regardless, all the hallmarks of a Parker are present with this Fly - light as air, super sleek and agile playability, seemingly limitless electric and acoustic tones on tap, an incredible tremolo setup, etc....unique features, designed to benefit both player and tech, abound.

Few have successfully dared to buck tradition - and succeed - like Ken Parker. We'll always have a soft-spot for these guitars and feel they'll continue to be appreciated as time goes on. Remember, these debuted in 1993. 30 years later, they are still ahead of their time.
