This 1959 Martin D-18 is a great buy for the guitarist looking to break through the vintage barrier: it's got an all-original structure, it's been well played-in, but not abused, and its big sound will have you wondering why late 50's dreadnoughts aren't targeted more frequently. The guitar plays easily, with action sitting at 3/32" (bass side) and 2/32" treble side under tension of medium strings. The original saddle has been lowered at some point in the past, but still provides adequate break angle to drive the top aggressively. A beautiful, golden-warm chime awaits strummers and singer songwriters, and a sharp, cutting power awaits bluegrassers -- this is a great old D-18, and a good value in an explosive vintage market. Priced with non-original hard case.
