The Super D is about POWER.
What To Know
Whether or not it was intended to be an accidental signature model for Tenacious D, we can't think of a better landing spot for the new Martin Custom Shop Super D than in the hands of J.B. and K.G. (yes, "The D" have indeed been using the Super D on their recent performances). By widening the lower bout of the Super D, Martin's luthiers have increased its internal air volume by twenty percent compared to their standard dreadnought shape.
And while we normally like to find a way to comment positively on all of a guitar's attributes, let's not kid ourselves. The Super D is about POWER. Tune that low E string down to D, grab your heavy pick, and let 'er rip. While you can certainly play Bach -- and it will, in fact, rock -- on the Super D, this guitar is engineered to fill up a room with boom; and it'll bring new found power to any rhythm section typically anchored by a lowly D-28 (last seen cowering sheepishly in the corner). If you're a dreadnought devotee who thought they'd heard it all, we invite you to stop in, saddle up, and take the Super D for a ride. Priced with hard case from Martin.
