This is an especially good sounding 00-17, with powerful bass for a mahogany-topped guitar, a wide open voice, and bright, round trebles.
This 1940 Martin 00-17 is one of the cleanest examples of the model we've ever seen. It's got the expected lacquer checking, but other than that it's almost shockingly clean for a vintage instrument. One minor top crack has been repaired; and it's completely stable. A neck set was recently performed by Judge Wolfe, and the guitar plays easily up and down the neck with a full-height saddle.
This is an especially good sounding 00-17, with powerful bass for a mahogany-topped guitar, a wide open voice, and bright, round trebles that leap right out of the guitar when it's fingerpicked. It's got a surprising amount of shimmer and lushness as well; and it's really fun to play in dropped tunings. In short ~ if you're looking for a vintage Martin 00 with top-of-the-heap tone, and you prefer the narrower, post 1939 neck, this guitar would fit beautifully in your stable. Priced with modern Harptone hardshell case.
