There’s something about a Lentz that keeps us singing their praises—and we’re not just blowing smoke. A few of us here at TME own Lentz guitars ourselves, and after years of playing them, one thing is clear: these guitars are undeniably special.
"So, sure, they look great, but it’s another Strat, right? What makes these so great?"
Glad you asked. We’ve pondered this ourselves, and a few things stand out.
For starters, each guitar is hand-built in Southern California by a father-son team whose dedication to their craft is second to none. They do things the old way—real nitro lacquer, handwork at every stage, and an unwavering patience for perfection. If the climate isn’t right for spraying finish, they wait. That attention to detail results in some of the most beautiful, and authentic, vintage-style finishes you’ll find anywhere.
Then there’s the wood. Only the finest materials make the cut—like the 25+ year-old necks and one piece bodies, selected for their resonance and stability. These guitars ring out like true vintage instruments, and it’s no accident. Every component is carefully matched, from body to neck to electronics, creating an instrument that resonates from end to end. Strum a single chord, and you’ll feel it—chimey, articulate, and muscular, with the snarl and punch of a great Gibson, all in Fender form.
And then there’s the neck. This is where Lentz truly shines. Stiff, stable, and incredibly resonant, these necks hold their setup like a dream. Once it’s dialed in, it stays put—just like a great vintage guitar. We know this firsthand—after years of owning and playing Lentz guitars, we can say with confidence: these aren’t just another Strat. They’re in a league of their own.
