Grez Guitars founder, Barry Grzebik, set out to create a guitar that fits in the ES-335 world, but is lighter and has more depth of tone - somewhat between a great ES-335 and an archtop. The result? The award-winning Mendocino, now offered here in a new double-cut version, with a slighter larger body to boot. From Barry...

"The A version, the DCA, is slightly larger with a more traditional cutaway shape. A is for Anderon. We'll loosly translate this to mean larger. This was created in conjunction with Kid Anderson, sometimes know as "The Mighty Anderson". The acoustic voice of this guitar is roughly 10% louder than the standard Mendocino and has warmer lower midrange creating an even more full range voice.

The DCAF version adds an F-hole that bumps up the lower octave of the acoustic voice giving the low E and A strings more authority and taming the upper mids a little to produce the most uniform acoustic voice of the Mendocino Line."

The results are spectacular - the Mendocino DCAF is really lightweight, balanced, and very alive and resonant. Simply put, this is the kind of instrument that makes you want to play more. It's beautifully made, has a chunky, late-50's Gibson-esq carve with a slinky overall feel, and sounds amazing both unplugged and plugged in.

If you're looking for something new that's both beautiful, alive, a blast to play - and - made by a luthier with an eye towards sustainability? You need to check out the award-winning Mendocino. Priced with a Reunion Blues gig bag.
