At 1/10 of a watt (quieter than standard TV viewing volume), you can get some serious EL34 fueled gain happening - especially with the boost switch engaged. The boost switch has 3 settings which will bypass the tone circuit as you go higher up the settings. This yields impressive amounts of gain that's about as pure and true to your guitar's unique voice as you can get (no coloration from the tone circuit).

As you go into 1/2, 2, and lastly 8 watt modes on the attenuator switch, you gain lush, 3-dimensional clean headroom. Add a beautifully voiced reverb and cut switch and you're in tone heaven.
