Our first electric from Laurent Brondel in 2022 is setting quite the high water mark.

Like the previously offered guitars from this line, Brondel's "New Vintage" '67 Stratocaster in Daphne Blue showcases Laurent's top-tier luthier talent and his ability to take the concept of "frankenstrat" to a whole new level.

This Daphne Blue beauty is one of the more unique variations we've seen to date, combining elements of a early/mid 60s Stratocaster with the post-CBS knockouts- a pair of original Wide Range humbuckers. We continue to be fascinated with Laurent's ability to rework original vintage Fender necks; this 1967 Fender Coronado II neck has been reworked and refretted for maximum playability and feel without compromising the 50+ year old vibe that accompanies many of the great old electrics we love. The original Coronado II neck plate accompanies the neck as well, with a new set of Gotoh vintage-style staggered tuners for smooth and stable tuning.

The original early 70s Wide Range Humbuckers are complemented with vintage CTS pots and a CRL switch, complete with an original switch tip and vintage knobs. A Kluson vintage style tremolo bridge w/ an aluminum block and set of Fender pure vintage reissue saddles (with a Graphtech high E saddle in place of the stock saddle) round out the body hardware.

If you've ever had the chance to play an original early 70s Fender Telecaster Thinline or Telecaster Deluxe, than you know how great these Seth Lover designed pickups are. A lot of the great Fender single-coil chime is retained, but with a bigger, bolder, and fatter overall response and output. These pickups sound phenomenal with low to moderate gain, showcasing their ability to retain dynamics and clarity with some added punch and authority. Clean tones remind us of some of the great early Gibson mini-humbucker tones, albeit slightly more balanced with a more rounded top end. Integrated into Brondel's own lightweight nitrocellulose finished Ash body and combined with a Strat style tremolo, the hybrid element of this build yields loads of versatility.

We only see a few of these a year from Brondel, and each one has its own distinct identity, sound, and feel. This guitar is the first of its kind we've seen from the Portland ME builder, and we wouldn't hesitate to snag another one just like it. It's got an amazing aesthetic with superb tone and playability- really everything we want in an old-school style electric.

Priced with custom 'LB' G&G vintage style hardshell case.
