If you're a diehard Gibson player but want to get into Fender tones? This is your guitar.

Alright folks, we have to level with you: Tommy Rodriguez is easily one of the best kept secrets in the boutique guitar world. Your FOMO should be getting triggered by the pics of this remarkably cool single cut model, and if it's not, you should ask yourself if you really love electric guitars. :-)

In all seriousness, this one-of-a-kind single cut might be one of the coolest examples of a 'hybrid guitar' we've encountered in a very long time. Fun tidbit? It's also painted with copper powder that Tommy sourced recently-which dates to 1943 (!).

It's a wild experience to sit down with this guitar as it feels a bit like a really great vintage Gibson in-hand (with a neck carve to die for) but into an amp - in our case a Carr Sportsman and some pedals - the sounds coming out of the speaker are pure Stratocaster, though with more muscle and midrange. The fatter midrange comes courtesy of its Honduran Mahogany body & neck and short scale length, with the Fender-isms coming from a trio of custom-spec/rod magnet Fralin P90s.

What's with that extra knob? Good question. It's a Fralin blend control that brings in the bridge pickup, allowing you to get a range of pickup combinations and tones depending on where you have the 5-way switch set.

Like all of Tommy's guitars, the build quality is exceptional as is the feel, playability, and tone. These guitars do what all of our favorite builder's guitars do - they manage to deliver all of the vibe and feel of a blue chip vintage instrument while upping the build quality and playability. It's truly the best of both worlds.

We can't say enough about this guitar and Tommy's work in general. We're gushing, we know, but seriously - what are you waiting for? Hit that add to cart button. We promise, you won't be disappointed.
