The Idris is a modern classic—rooted in tradition but built for today’s player. Light, responsive, tone-rich, and endlessly inspiring.
At a glance, the Novo Idris nods to the golden era of Strat-style guitars—25.5" scale, bolt-on neck, trio of Fralin Vintage Hot pickups, and a roasted maple/rosewood combo that feels right at home. But look (and listen) a little closer, and you’ll quickly realize: this isn’t just a vintage rehash.
The roasted pine body immediately sets the Idris apart—lighter than traditional alder or ash, with a snappier response and a cool, organic resonance all its own. Combined with Novo’s signature body contours, you get an instrument that looks part Strat, part offset, and just a touch Burns Bison—all while sitting effortlessly against the body.
What makes it addictive? The design ergonomics. The subtly shifted neck angle, the effortless upper fret access, the balanced feel—it’s got the slinkiness of a short-scale without sacrificing the full Strat tension. It's the kind of guitar you pick up to noodle for five minutes and lose track of time an hour later.
And then there’s the neck. Dennis Fano’s aged finishes are among the best in the game—dry, broken-in, never sticky. The C carve is instantly comfortable, and the 9.5"–14" compound radius with silky fretwork makes for a ridiculously easy player. If you've played a great Danocaster, you're in the ballpark.
As for the tones? Lush, dynamic, and unmistakably Strat, with just the right amount of push. The Fralin Vintage Hots deliver shimmer and chime with real touch sensitivity—glassy highs, sweet mids, and compression in the 2 & 4 spots that Strat lovers will absolutely devour. Blend control wiring offers a little extra flavor without overcomplicating things.
