Bill Nash's aged Les Pauls—authentic Gibson models—are reimagined and rebuilt with his signature look, playability, and sound.
Bill Nash made waves in the boutique guitar world in the early 2000s with his masterful aged Fender-style replicas, but he truly turned heads when he applied his signature artistry to authentic Gibson Les Pauls. These guitars—meticulously reimagined for superior look, playability, and tone—are a testament to Nash's ability to honor the past while elevating it for today’s players.
Nash’s process begins with the disassembly of an existing Les Paul, where each component is given careful scrutiny. Subpar parts are replaced with higher-quality upgrades, ensuring every detail meets his exacting standards. The thick factory finish is meticulously stripped to reveal the natural beauty of the wood grain. For models that require it, a historically accurate stain is applied, capturing the essence of the golden era.
Finally, the guitar is refinished with ultra-thin layers of 100% nitrocellulose lacquer—a hallmark of vintage craftsmanship. This not only enhances the guitar's tonal depth and resonance but also delivers a rich, authentic aesthetic that feels as timeless as the music it inspires.
After curing, the instrument undergoes an artful aging process that gives it the appearance of a well-loved vintage Les Paul. Frets are reworked and dressed to exacting standards, ensuring exceptional playability and long-term performance.
For pickups, Nash pairs a DiMarzio Bluesbucker in the neck with a DiMarzio Air Norton in the bridge. This versatile setup delivers everything from warm bluesy tones to sharp, articulate highs. A custom coil tap on the neck pickup unlocks Strat-like clarity with a simple twist of the tone knob (from 1 to 7 or 8, it functions like a normal tone. Beyond 7 or 8 it acts as a coil tap).

At the end of the day, what we really love about Bill's Les Pauls is how fun they are to play. The best guitars, in our humble opinion, are the ones that possess musicality and inspire you - regardless of the builder or materials used - and ultimately, are a blast to play. This guitar checks all of these boxes with ease, and of course, it sounds fantastic per all Nash guitars.
