It's been a while since we've seen one of Jim Merrill's guitars in the shop here at TME (we ordered a 00-18 that looked EXACTLY like this one back when we were dealers for him ... but this is not the same guitar). And the sound of this instrument has us gobsmacked all over again. Honestly, this is a hard guitar to put down. You've heard that said a hundred times, but it's true! This guitar is lightly built, uber-responsive, and huge-sounding, delivering fat notes that don't lack a woody crispness from every register of the fingerboard. You'll fall head over heels for it if you're a fingerpicker; but if you're a flatpicker with a light touch a la Norman Blake, this one will have you running through your repertoire with an ear-to-ear grin. Overall condition is very good ~ but this guitar has been played and does show some minor wear on its top. This is one of those cases in which we believe whatever knicks and dings there are will be forgotten about five seconds after strum number one. Priced with hard case.
