One of the builders we really wish were still in operation is undoubtedly Jerry Jones. Prior to retiring in 2011, Jerry Jones was based in Nashville and focused on Danelectro-style guitars, bass guitars, baritones, 12 strings, and sitar guitars. Though they're made in the same style as the old Dano's, they quality level is quite a bit higher, making these instruments highly sought after by both collectors and players.
This might be one of our favorite basses to pass through the shop in the last year. This, friends, is a Longhorn 30" scale bass in a killer Copper Burst. On looks alone...come on! Too cool, no? Wait until you sit down with it. It weighs nothing thanks to its masonite construction (again, like an old Danelectro), has a very easy playing neck carve, and is loaded with a pair of lipstick pickups.
Simply put? This bass is a blast to play. Its smaller form factor, light weight, and balance makes it a joy to play - even for a lot of us guitar players (especially for us guitar players)! These basses don't sound like a P or a J, they have their own sound which works great for Americana, Country, or Rock.
Condition: Very Good. This bass was well cared for but shows normal wear given its age. The fact that it's hard to see some of it in the pics just underscores how light the wear is - nothing concerning at all, just normal aging from gentle use.
Don't sleep on this one - JJ guitars and basses tend to sell quickly! Priced with hardshell case.
