TME is excited to offer this 00-28, built by luthier, Wayne Henderson, in 1999. The guitar was originally constructed for singer-songwriter, Gillian Welch, in trade for an appearance she made at Henderson's music festival. Its specs are pure 1930's 00-28, with the exception of the more comfortable 1 3/4" nut width. The back and sides are beautiful Brazilian Rosewood, and the top is Appalachian Red Spruce. This is a great-sounding guitar that takes well to all playing styles ~ its voice is rich, warm, and replete with interesting overtones that do not occur at the expense of openness or clarity. Its dynamic range is very impressive; and the player can elicit gorgeous tone from it whether playing gently with bare fingers or flatpicking in the style of Norman Blake. A great example of the work of a now-legendary guitar maker!
Condition: while this guitar has been played, it remains in excellent condition for a 25-year old instrument. There is very mild playwear near the treble-side edge of the pickguard. There are no cracks or otherwise-unsightly cosmetic blemishes. The original finish retains its luster, and polishes to a beautiful shine. Our shop has set it up with .012-.053 bronze strings, and it plays easily up and down the neck. Priced with Canadian-made Calton Case. On consignment; shipping to be calculated at point of purchase. Payment requested by wire transfer or check.
