Notice anything familiar about this new Healer model just in from Healy Guitars?!

We fell in love with the first Sunburst Healer we received from Trevor & Co., so it was only natural for us to have a Version 2.0 of sorts made in celebration of such a beautifully crafted offset. This particular build features some notable tweaks that elevated this model's capabilities even further.

The first thing you might notice is that this Healer has a set neck as opposed to a bolt neck. Combined with the longer Fender-style scale length, you're rewarded with equal parts snappy response with superb resonance and fundamental power. This gets complemented by the custom handwound Barbibay Alnico 5 JM pickups - a first for a TME spec Healy instrument.

Healy team member/builder Ohad Barbibay has been winding custom pickups for a couple of years, and has honed in on some special recipes that accentuate the voice of this guitar perfectly. His take on the venerable Jazzmaster single coil highlights the inherent quality of the design, but offers something tonally unique. There's more clarity - not to be confused with treble or top end - and the note definition is strong and balanced. The A5 magnets definitely add some immediacy to the attack, but there's also a sweetness to their response in this guitar (no doubt the chambered body is playing a role here). Clean tones are pure magic, ripe with harmonic bloom. Gained up, they remain clear and distinct, with some nice sizzle that cuts through a mix with ease.

Another tone tweak in this build is the use of both Hi and Low cut controls as opposed to a more traditional Tone control. This allows for more finite tone shaping and control. In the neck position, you can sculpt the low end which can be helpful in a two-guitar band or dense mix. Inversely, taming some of the top end in the bridge position can help to fatten up the response, yielding a thicker tone that also doesn't compromise the character of the pickup. It's kind of the best of both worlds!

Another beautifully carved Slim/Medium C neck and fretwork you have to feel to believe makes this Healer a borderline self-playing guitar. The playability is just that good. The smooth, stable action of the Mastery bridge and vibrato is a fitting accent on an offset that is as inspiring to play as any electric we've been fortunate to have in our shop.
