For discerning buyers and collectors who appreciate legacy, playability, and long-term value, this is a great opportunity to own a guitar from one of Gretsch’s most revered builders.

Built by the legendary Stephen Stern before his retirement from the Gretsch Custom Shop, this G6134CS Penguin Relic is more than just a guitar - it’s a masterclass in craftsmanship. Stern, who studied under Jimmy D’Aquisto and Bob Benedetto, brought his archtop expertise to every build, and this Penguin is no exception. It features chimey, articulate Filter’Tron tone, low, effortless action, and tasteful relic'ing that captures the vibe of a well-loved vintage piec with all the reliability of a modern Custom Shop guitar.

This example is in excellent condition, with the only modification being a professionally replaced nut by Dan Armstrong, one of the most trusted luthiers in the Boston area (the work was preformed before the guitar arrived at our shop). It comes with its original hardshell case and is ready for both the stage, studio, or rehearsal space.

Whether you’re expanding a well-curated collection or looking for a no-compromise player’s guitar with serious tone and pedigree, this Penguin checks every box. An incredible guitar by any measure.
