The Model 1 features a beautiful Red (Adirondack) spruce top, paired with a hard Sugar maple and sides. In Gilchrist's masterful hands, the pairing makes for a potent, dynamic mandolin with a rich tonality.

It is rare to hear a modern, oval-hole mandolin with this degree of power and pop. We often field requests for an oval-hole mandolin that sounds warm, has great sustain, and can still be heard in a session or jam. It's a hard feat to pull off, but this mandolin manages to accomplish all of that, and look great doing it.
