The early days of the Gibson Custom Shop put out some incredible guitars, and this Historic 1957 Reissue of the fabled 'Black Beauty' Les Paul Custom is no exception.
This is a well-loved example with honest wear that still remains relatively clean. There are various small nicks, dings, and scuffs throughout, along with some finish wear on the back of the neck. The gold hardware shows varying degrees of patina and wear, but remains solid. The original frets are in surprisingly great shape as well.
At 9lbs 2oz, it's very well balanced and sturdy, but still super comfortable and resonant. It's right in that sweet spot of LP weight where you get the benefit of the mass and sustain along with the acoustic qualities that impart more sparkle and air to the guitar's response.
As the vintage climate continues to rise, these early Custom Shop LPs prove to be more-than-worthy options for those wanting an authentic version of the uber-pricey 50s originals. This R7 Black Beauty is a reminder that it's still tough to beat a solidbody single-cut when they're as good as this.
Includes original Historic HSC, COA, and hangtag.
