1998 Gibson Historic '65 Firebird V in Sunburst finish just in! Not to be confused with a standard production Firebird, these earlier Historic spec guitars came out of the Custom Shop with distinctive period-correct features and an elevated build quality that encompasses the vibe and tone of the originals.
This is a wonderful sounding Firebird that has a great neck carve and is nicely balanced in terms of overall weight. The neck-through design creates a deep resonance unique to the model, and coupled with the Firebird mini humbucking pickups makes for a punchy and bright tone.
Previously owned by a professional local musician, it's been well cared for and shows signs of typical play wear throughout. Light scuffs and very small dings can be found on the body along with some pick scratches on the bass and treble sides of the strings, but the frets remain at near full height and the lacquer finish is still quite clean.
One of the reflector tops had fallen off of the knobs (bridge volume), strap lock buttons had been installed, and a tuner mounting screw was replaced (high E), but it's otherwise as it was when it felt the factory some 25 years ago. The original hardshell case is one of the best designed for this model to date, and offers superior protection than any of the cases that preceded it. Its center latch failed at one point, and is included in the case. The remaining two latches function great.
