A model built exclusively for Guitar Center, this 2004 Gibson Custom Les Paul G0 shares the same platform as the Custom Shop "R0" with some slight changes along the way. This particular guitar was built during the earliest of production runs for the GC model, often considered to be as close to a true "R" build as the Custom Shop Reissues from the same time period.
The G0 comes outfitted with a pair of original Gibson Burstbuckers (1 & 2, respectively) that sound fantastic, with great definition and clarity to transition from smooth clean tones to roaring overdriven tones with ease. The naturally faded Lemon/Cherry Burst finish presents a little more like an R8 as well - we love the plain top look!
This was a previously a one-owner instrument, purchased new by professional Boston-area guitarist Jim Scoppa, and used extensively over the years. It shows some great natural wear and patina that only time can truly capture, but remains in very good overall condition. There's some buckle rash on the back and various scuffs, nicks, and dings.
The wiring harness was slightly modified, including the replacement of the neck volume pot and the tone capacitors, all of which are Emerson Audio parts. The weight is excellent - it comes in right at 8lb 12oz and feels very nicely balanced with a great snappy acoustic response.
If you're in the market for a quality historic-spec LP with a fast neck and vintage-correct tone, don't pass this one by!
