One of Gibson's most celebrated Custom Shop offerings, this R8 takes it up a few notches with the Historic Makeovers RDS package.
What To Know
It's no surprise that Gibson has had tremendous success with their Custom Shop Les Paul Reissue series over the years, and particularly with their 1958 and 1959 "Burst" Reissue models. But when it comes to really nailing the look, feel, and vibe of a vintage LP, the folks over at Historic Makeovers bring even the best of what Gibson has to offer up to a whole new level. Case in point with this 2016 R8 just in on consignment...
Originally built in 2016, this wonderful R8 went out to Historic Makeovers and received their RDS (Real Deal Series) treatment, which includes all of the trimmings in their Deluxe package such as body top and neck re-carve, Brazilian Rosewood fingerboard, Retrospec cellulose nitrate inlays and parts, and a custom Dirty Lemon finish that's aged to perfection. It's about as vintage-authentic as you'll see any modern Gibson made today.
When combined with a set of Throbak KZ-115 humbuckers, you're instantly rewarded with beautiful early PAF tone - sweet and chimey with a certain airiness, along with a rich and warm low end and midrange.
This is a spectacular playing and sounding guitar with a great playing neck and near-perfect LP weight. It comes with its original Lifton hardshell case along with original COA, hang tags, Throbak cert, and Historic Makeovers COA.
