Our newest Froggy Bottom H-12 is a byproduct of a custom order from last year: when a customer's H-12 with back and sides from "The Tree" was completed, we knew we had to have one for ourselves. Paired with the fine-grained German Spruce Mr. Millard has in his wood locker, the legendary quilted mahogany shows its true tonal colors -- it produces a guitar as loud, rich-sounding and colorful as the best Brazilian Rosewood, with the kind of focus in the low end that only Mahogany provides. (Many of our favorite builders, including Mr. Millard, have suggested Brazilian Rosewood and Mahogany from "The Tree" should be considered toe-to-toe in the prize running for best available tonewood.) The H-12 body shape, loosely akin to a 12-fret 00, provides endless versatility for a player with a light touch: whether strummed, flat picked or fingerpicked, its sound is warm and balanced, with a great "round" attack to each note. To call this a shop favorite would be putting it lightly! This wonderful guitar is priced with a Cedar Creek AVS hard case.
