What truly sets the Sonar apart is its perfect balance of craftsmanship and vibe. Every detail feels intentional, making it a joy to play—never sterile or overbuilt.
The Frank Brothers Sonar model is such a malleable design that works seamlessly with a variety of pickups, configurations, and bridge types. This lightly relic’d Yellow Oxide Sonar blends Gibson and Fender influences into something unmistakably unique—and undeniably Frank Brothers.
From its retro-inspired “student model” aesthetic to the short ashtray-style bridge with brass saddles, TV Jones T-Armond pickups, and trio of control switches (bass cut, series, parallel), the Sonar invites creativity. It’s a guitar designed to fit into a variety of contexts and inspire fresh ideas.
What truly sets the Sonar apart is its perfect balance of craftsmanship and vibe. Every detail feels intentional, making it a joy to play—never sterile or overbuilt. With build quality that rivals the finest instruments in our shop, it strikes that rare harmony between precision and soul.
The Slim "C" neck profile (.82–.90”), 9.5" radius, and 25.5" scale length keep things effortlessly playable, with a Gibson-esq feel that will feel instantly familiar to many players. True to its roots, it delivers comfort and performance in equal measure.
Plugged into a Swart Antares, the T-Armond pickups shine and deliver familiarity without falling prey to the "same old, same old". Clean tones feature a mix of Tele-inspired twang (though subtler than a Telecaster) and Jazzmaster-like clarity. When overdriven, the Sonar takes on a raw, expressive character. Pair that with the bass cut and series/parallel switches, and you’ll find an array of tones that slot easily into any rig.
Once again, our friends in Toronto knock it out of the park. Don’t miss your chance to experience this masterpiece.

Brand Story
As the Frank Brothers' first dealer in 2016—thanks to a glowing recommendation from Toronto-based master builder Joseph Yanuziello—we recognized right away that these guitars were something special.
Joseph’s impeccable craftsmanship and discerning eye for quality have always guided our choices, and the Frank Brothers' instruments lived up to every expectation.
