Whether you're a lifelong Strat fan or simply someone who appreciates a truly inspired build, this Jason Smith Masterbuilt Strat is a standout celebration of Fender history, with tone and feel to match.
Jason Smith isn’t just a Master Builder, he’s Fender family through and through. The son of longtime R&D legend Dan Smith, Jason grew up immersed in the world of guitars, meeting icons like Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, and Geddy Lee before he was even a teenager.
Since joining the Fender Custom Shop in 1995 and completing a five-year apprenticeship under the legendary John English, he’s built world-class instruments for players like John 5, Michael Landau, Flea, and Kenny Wayne Shepherd.
And now, Jason brings that deep legacy and personal connection to this stunning 70th Anniversary 1954 Stratocaster, a Masterbuilt tribute to one of the most iconic instruments in history.
At its core is a two-piece select ash body with an offset seam (treble side), finished in a beautifully aged Wide Fade Two-Color Sunburst that captures the vibe of a well-preserved original. A quarter sawn maple neck, shaped to a special 70th Anniversary Soft V profile (.885–.980"), delivers effortless feel and comfort, made even better by the modern-leaning 9 1/2" radius and 21 medium jumbo frets (6150).
Tones come courtesy of a trio of Josefina-wound ’54 pickups, which capture everything we love about early Strats - sparkling highs, sweet mids, and clear, laut lows.
The finishing touches, a single-ply white guard, rounded ABS covers, vintage-style tuners and tremolo, are right where they should be. This guitar comes complete with a deluxe embroidered case, anniversary case candy, and certificate of authenticity.
