Made exclusively for Sweetwater, the GT11 Strat boasts some very cool, very well though out features for players looking to keep the vibe vintage but with player-centric improvements on this classic design.
The roasted body and neck woods make for a very lightweight, resonant, and agile feeling Strat. A highlight for us was easily the neck - the oval 60s C coupled with an unusual 11" radius are just a joy to play on. This neck reminded us a bit of a Suhr or Tuttle, both renowned for their effortless playability.
Mike Lewis Design Hand-wound Under-wound '64 pickups, a 5-way switch, and a master volume, tone, and blend control gives you a range of dynamic, touch-sensitive Strat tones that are on par with any boutique guitar in the shop.
Hats off to the folks at Sweetwater - this is a killer Strat by any measure!
From Sweetwater:
"Over the long and iconic history of Fender Custom Shop, thousands of Stratocaster variations have been produced. None are like this one. The GT11 starts with a lightweight, roasted alder body and a roasted AAA flame maple neck for a very open and balanced tone. With the Sweetwater-exclusive 11"-radius fingerboard, the GT11 provides a playing surface that inspires and delivers more speed and precision. Add in three custom-wound Sweet ’64 pickups with the Half Blender switching system and Fat ’50s wiring, and you’ve got a premium guitar for any style of music. Topping off the feature-laden GT11 is an updated tremolo with improved string spacing and vintage staggered pole tuning machines. The Relic’d body and neck combined with Closet Classic hardware give the GT11 Stratocaster a vintage, worn-in look and feel with precision performance."
