We've had our eye on the Albert Collins signature model for years, truth be told, but they're not one you tend to see out in the wild. You either need to luck out and find a used one, or pull the trigger on a custom order. Well, the day has come, friends - we finally got our hands on this beautiful 2011 Albert Collins signature Tele and it does not disappoint!
Features include double-bound swamp ash body, specially shaped maple neck with 21 frets, custom Seymour Duncan humbucking neck pickup and custom vintage-style Fender Telecaster bridge pickup.
Simply put? This is a great playing, looking, and sounding Telecaster through and through. The C shaped neck is just chunky enough to provide extra support for those Albert-style bends but not so large as to feel fatiguing or cumbersome. The tones are classic Tele - great twang and bite from the bridge pickup and the Duncan '59 humbucker delivers classic PAF output and midrange (and isn't muddy).
Condition: Excellent save for some light indentations on the body and finish marks, just signs of normal, respectful, play wear. The frets show little wear if any.
We'll confess that we're suckers for this look - a natural Ash body, double bound in this case, paired with a maple neck and a white pickguard. Classic, understated, timeless. What's not to love? Priced with hardshell case and ashtray bridge cover, no paperwork is included.
