Some of our favorite Custom Shop guitars from Fender lean in the direction of this 1960 Stratocaster - meaning, it feels, looks, and sounds quite a bit like an old guitar.
To clarify, we're big fans of all of the Custom Shop guitars we've been getting from Fender - they're all fantastic instruments - some feel quite authentic, others feel a bit more stylized, if you will (which in fairness is what some of those guitars are going for, not a dead-on replica). This Daphne Blue '60 Strat falls into more of the replica camp (to our eyes, ears, and hands).
The relic work is really authentic looking as is the color - light wear, no extreme aging on the back of the neck, green guard, 3-way pickup selector, vintage size fret wire, the headstock logo stands out like an older Strat...it's all here.
Most importantly though, it plays, sounds, and feels right. The neck carve is spot on. We're lucky to be able to regularly play great vintage Strats, and from that experience, you can immediately recognize the guitars that capture that essence - this is for sure one of those guitars.
Simply put? If you're in the market for a great vintage-inspired Strat but don't want to sell your car to get a real one? This guitar would make an excellent choice - we'd love to take it home ourselves! Priced with hardshell case, CoA, and case candy.
