Serial #613 boasts stunning looks, exceptional build quality, and that perfect mix of warmth, fullness, clear chime, and sustain that has made Ellis a household name in the mandolin world.
Rare Ellis Twin-Point mandolin sighting!
There's that gorgeous Ellis sound we have come to love and admire, with great power, richness, and chime in all registers. It is a tone that leans slightly modern, in that the bass is more developed than a more traditional bluegrass mandolin, and the string-to-string balance is dialed in perfectly. Ellis' neck carve and setup makes for an easy, comfortable playing experience.
Red spruce pairs with a special, one-piece, Curly maple back and matched sides, under a picture-perfect sunburst. Top-shelf appointments include silver Waverly tuners with pearl buttons, an engraved James tailpiece, and a rather stunning hummingbird headstock inlay— the pearl and abalone sourced, expertly cut and inlaid in house.
If you have been looking specifically for a great Ellis, or just on the hunt for an exceptional, do-it-all, "lifer" mandolin, you are looking at it. Preowned (hard to call it "used" given this condition). On consignment.
Priced with one of the cooler looking Calton we've seen in a while—très chic!
