Warm, rich, and detailed all at once, with a round note attack and a lovely string-to-string balance, there is nothing we'd change about the voicing on this Ellis (well, on most any Ellis, for that matter). While it can certainly crush in a bluegrass setting, this Ellis A Special is an excellent choice for a player who traverses a lot of different stylistic ground.

We have long admired Ellis' elevated, refined build quality and superb attention to detail. The blonde-finished top and light burst back, sides, and neck on this mandolin show off the clean workmanship. Nothing to hide behind here! The Ellis team has hit it out of the park yet again.
