If you're in the market for a fantastic sounding mandolin that you don't have to worry about taking to a jam, look no further!

Ellis mandolins are consistently some of our most popular here at the shop, and with good reason. This 2016 A5 Deluxe offers plenty of woody power, a huge dynamic range, and a responsiveness and complexity that has only developed with age. This is a true player's instrument, and would make a reliable workhorse mandolin for any musician in the market for a used A-style.

In preparation for it's next home, we sent this mandolin down to Rhode Island, where our good friend (and skilled builder) Max Girouard performed an expert re-fret with EVO wire and set it up to his exacting standards. Playability is excellent, and this Ellis is now ready for a great many more years of enjoyment.

As evident in the photos, this mandolin has been played heavily, and it sports a good amount of wear to show for it. Heavy pick-wear is apparent across the top, and marks in the finish appear throughout. The back of the neck has been given a "speed neck" treatment, which does eliminate any feeling of stickiness, and a strap button has also been installed on the heel. Nothing affecting playability or tone has been compromised - just good, honest play-wear. All that is to say, this is not an instrument for anyone expecting cosmetic perfection. If you're in the market for a fantastic sounding mandolin that you don't have to worry about taking to a jam, however, look no further!

Priced with non-original hardshell case.

Please note: used instruments are, well, used. We pride ourselves on thoroughly vetting, and carefully photographing, each pre-owned instrument we sell, but many of them carry subtle signs of handling that can escape even the most discerning eye. If you have questions about the condition of this instrument, we invite you to call us for an in-hand description. We're here to help!
