This Collings D2H Traditional is a rarely available variant of the model built with Madagascar Rosewood back & sides! That tonewood is not always available for custom orders at Collings; so we jumped at the chance to build some T-series guitars when a supply of it became available. Is there a tonal benefit associated with Madagascar Rosewood? We certainly think so. For a rosewood guitar, this instrument has stunning clarity. The mids and high end are so clear and crisp, you might be momentarily fooled into thinking this was a Mahogany guitar. And the low end seems more focused and robust than it would be if this guitar were made from Indian Rosewood. The takeaway? All the warmth of voice and overtone content of a rosewood guitar, with enhanced definition.
