This Collings AT-16 is a texbook example of the company's now-legendary 16" archtop guitar ~ arguably the modern era's most sought-after interpretation of the classic 1930's L5. A team of Collings' top builders inspected it on a recent visit to the shop, and confirmed it's from the era when Bill Collings himself built each one of the AT models. This is a particularly lightweight AT-16, with exceptional sound: it's warm, open, and balanced, with terrific meatiness to the note attack. For those who value the prestige element often associated with these guitars, this one was built to display at the 2006 NAMM show.
Condition: we think this AT-16 would be fittingly classified as "excellent" by anyone who's handled one of them. There have been no modifications to the original setup, and the guitar still plays beautifully. While it's not a mint, untouched instrument (nothing other than a new instrument is, after all), it displays no significant signs of playwear. Priced with its original TKL hardshell case. We invite any interested parties to call us for an in-hand description. On consignment; expedited shipping required. Payment requested by check or wire transfer.
