The 71 M shows off everything we love about Collings’ build quality and design sense. Bold, refined, and addictive to play, this is a new chapter for their electrics - and we’re here for it.
We’re excited to have one of the brand-new Collings 71 M solidbody electrics in the shop! The 71 takes their offset design language - originally seen in their 360 model - further than ever. It’s quickly become a shop favorite.
While the 71 M hints at where the 360 left off, it’s far from a version 2.0. This is a fresh design with a new neck carve, a new feel, and a playing experience that might just shift your perspective on what an offset-style guitar can be.
The solid ash body has a sculpted, in-motion aesthetic, with a tight waist and flared cutaways that feel ergonomic in hand. It joins the neck at the 19th fret and offers effortless upper fret access reminiscent of an SG or doublecut LP Junior, all while retaining the stability of a set-neck with a smooth heel transition.
The 6-in-line headstock, also a Collings first, is clean, balanced, and perfectly executed. Paired with a neck that feels like a well-worn mid-’50s Fender, the moderate V carve offers something completely new for Collings fans and feels instantly familiar under the hand.
A custom-matched set of Lollar pickups adds character and versatility: the Blademaster in the neck position draws from Charlie Christian-style tones, while the Jazzmaster P90 in the bridge brings richness, power, and midrange cut. Both are direct-mounted for maximum resonance and responsiveness.

Brand Story
"Every day we try to make a better guitar, every day. You're trying to reach for more, trying to do better, not trying to do the same. A lot of companies are trying to do the same, and that's okay - that's their deal. We're trying to stretch that. Our goal is a little more."
