Description

This 1996 0002H, with Engelmann spruce top and cutaway, definitely feels of a different era compared to current model Collings guitars. It's hard to say what is most responsible for this guitar's deep, resonant tone. The finish work done in that time period was thinner, and you can see - and more importantly, hear - that with this responsive guitar. Engelmann, the most cedar-like of the spruces, responds beautifully to lighter touches and delicate arrangements, but still has plenty of headroom for flatpicking. And nearly 25 years of healthy playing have certainly done it no harm. A close eye can find some minor nicks, but for a guitar this age, it's in very clean condition. All in all, this would make an excellent instrument for the fingerstylist who wants the perfect balance of tone, playability and accessibility up the neck for adventurous arrangements. Priced with hard case.
