It's always a treat to have one of John Slobod's guitars in the store, but no Circa in recent memory has spun the collective heads of the staff like this one. You can throw as many "A" as you want in front of the tonewoods used to construct this 12-fret 000-28 -- suffice it to say this is the best of what's available in the categories of Red spruce and Brazilian rosewood. This super-light, super-responsive guitar will delight most anyone: it certainly fingerpicks like a dream, but it really reveals what it's got to give when played a little more aggressively with a flatpick. Every note has a warm, shimmery bloom, with complex overtones and a fat, fundamental punch. Other notable features include a 1920's style "Bird's Beak" neck joint, banjo tuners, and non-adjustable, graphite neck rod (which helps keep the overall weight of the guitar low). If you're familiar with Slobod's reputation as one of the most sought-after makers of pre-war Martin style guitars, you won't be surprised by this instrument's incredible sound and response.
