With just about five production years under its belt, the Benson Chimera has redefined what the 30-watt sound is all about. Chris Benson took his groundbreaking Monarch amplifier circuit and essentially doubled its power while breaking out the preamp into a 2-band EQ and tweaking the feel to bring a mid-powered amp into the market. The results are pretty fantastic as you might imagine - a quartet of 6V6 power tubes combined with a 12AX7 front end and a unique circuit design yield some harmonically rich American tones combined with some great British top end sizzle and punch.

To our ears, the Chimera pulls in some Tweed Bassman influence along with the chime and upper midrange growl of a great AC30, all while offering a different feel and response than both of those classic amps.

This 2018 build features custom wound Mercury Magnetics transformers and the custom upgrade Bourbon Burst tweed headshell. It's in excellent shape and sounds sublime! This is a great opportunity to grab one of the most popular and sought-after amps made today without a wait.
