"The vision was clear - to build hand-crafted custom guitars with the best tone, looks, and playability available."
~Don Grosh
Founded by Don Grosh in 1993 and based in Broomfield, Colorado since 2005, Grosh Guitars has spent more than three decades building some of the most respected boutique electrics in the country. Don started out at Valley Arts in North Hollywood in 1985 - running the shop as foreman through its peak years building guitars for Larry Carlton, Steve Lukather, Vince Gill, and Lee Ritenour—before striking out on his own. The lineup today centers on the Retro Classic and NOS Retro (S-style), the ElectraJet and DeltaJet (Grosh's offset originals), the Hollow Tele-style models, and the Set Neck, with Grosh winding all of his own pickups in-house since the late 2000s. The team is small by design - five people, last we checked - which keeps the build standards exactly where Don wants them.
The Music Emporium has carried Grosh for nearly two decades, with a selection that spans the core lineup and the kind of one-off configurations that don't tend to sit around long. Don's small team builds at a pace that rewards patience, and we know which models suit which players - useful when you're choosing between a Retro Classic and a DeltaJet, or trying to land on the right pickup pairing for what you actually play.
Boutique + Vintage
Grosh guitars marry boutique-level precision with vintage-inspired tone and feel - built to deliver timeless sounds with unmatched consistency and refinement.
Effortless Playability
From expertly carved neck profiles to flawless fretwork, Grosh guitars are designed with the player in mind. They feel broken-in from day one and are always easy to get lost in.
Tone You Can Trust
Whether clean or overdriven, Grosh pickups are articulate, balanced, and expressive - crafted in-house to serve the music, not overshadow it.
Grosh Guitars FAQ
Common questions about Grosh guitars - the models, custom orders, and where to play them.
Where can I buy a Grosh guitar near Boston?
The Music Emporium in Lexington, Massachusetts is an authorized Grosh dealer and has carried Grosh for nearly two decades. From our showroom near Boston we keep a curated Grosh selection in stock, and players travel from across New England to compare models in person.
What makes Grosh guitars different from other boutique electrics?
Grosh Guitars is a small, five-person shop in Broomfield, Colorado, founded by Don Grosh in 1993 after running Valley Arts in North Hollywood. Don and his team build a tightly focused lineup of S-style, offset, T-style, and set-neck electrics, and have wound their own pickups in-house since the late 2000s. The result is unusual consistency, hand-feel, and tonal balance for a production-built electric.
What Grosh models does The Music Emporium typically carry?
Our Grosh selection centers on the Retro Classic and NOS Retro (S-style), the ElectraJet and DeltaJet (Don's offset originals), the Hollow Tele-style models, and the NOS VT (T-style). As an authorized dealer of nearly 15 years, we also spec one-off configurations that don't tend to sit around long, and we can advise on which model and pickup pairing fits how you actually play.
What is the difference between the Grosh Retro Classic and the ElectraJet?
The Retro Classic is Grosh's 80s leaning S-style guitar - a refined take on the classic double-cutaway solidbody with a vintage-inspired voice. The ElectraJet is Don's offset design - a Grosh original rather than a recreation, with its own body shape and tonal personality. Most Grosh shoppers are choosing between the two on feel and aesthetic as much as tone; our staff can walk you through both side by side.
Are Grosh guitars available as custom orders?
Yes. Grosh's small build team takes custom configurations - woods, finishes, neck specs, pickup combinations - and as a long-standing authorized dealer we can help guide the spec sheet and place the order with Don's shop. Lead times reflect that everything is built by a five-person team, so plan accordingly.
