Product information

1962 Magnatone 213 Twilighter 1x12 combo built by Estey in California.

Much like Kays and Harmonys of the 50s and 60s, Magnatone built amplifiers under different brand names for various distributors. Twilighter-branded Magnatones were sold through the Lo Duca Brothers company based out of Milwaukee, WI, who sold and distributed accordions under their own name.

The Twilighter is simply a rebranded 213 Model, featuring slightly different faceplate graphics and knobs, but functionally and schematically identical to the Troubadour. One of Magnatone's most celebrated amp models, the 213 pushes about 18 watts via a pair of 6V6 power tubes through a single 12" speaker.

There are two channels (A and B) with independent Volume controls and a master Tone control. The legendary Vibrato circuit features Speed and Depth controls along with a footswitch jack for remote operation. These circuits have a beautifully round but chimey tone, with a particular kind of breakup that sits somewhere between Tweed and Blackface era Fenders for comparison. The Vibrato is addictive!

The amp was recently serviced by Stan Day, which included a recap, replacement of some resistors, a new power cord, new power tubes, and new preamp tubes. The original Oxford 12K5 remains, as well as the Vibrato footswitch. It's a very clean example of one of these amps.

**Please Note: All vintage amplifiers - regardless of service history - contain electronic components that will eventually require replacement or repair. This is often unpredictable and should be expected as a vintage amplifier owner. We are not responsible for additional service upon receipt. We also do not guarantee tube life.**
