Product information

If you want a punchy sounding SG with a full neck carve and great T-Tops, you got it.

1969 Gibson SG Standard just in on consignment!

This '69 is one of those guitars that seems to have a little extra happening in the tone department. The original T-Top Patent # humbuckers are frankly exceptional sounding in this guitar! Open and clear like an old PAF while also having this great upper midrange vocal-like punch many of the later 60s Gibson humbuckers seem to embody.

As far as SG Standards from this period go, this is a perfect example of a transitional build that has some of the desirable '68 features while stepping into the end of the decade and showing where Gibson was headed. It has a pre-volute 3-piece Mahogany neck with a nice rounded C profile and meaty taper. The Cherry finish paired with the wide bevel pickguard and witch hat knobs is such a great look as well.

This is a largely original example with the exception of some replaced tuners. In typical 70s/80s fashion, the original Kluson tuners were ditched for Schallers. Besides that, the remaining hardware is original as well as the electronics, with a visible pot code dating from the 2nd week of 1969.

Priced with period Gibson hardshell.
