The Gibson Custom Shop 'Doves In Flight' model represents some of the finest and most detailed level of craftsmanship in a modern-built Gibson acoustic. Built on the platform of the famous square-shoulder dreadnought that originally debuted in 1962, this 2019 Doves In Flight takes the concept similar to that of Martin's D-45, where an incredible amount of pearl inlay adorns the body, fingerboard, and peghead as well as the unmistakably iconic pickguard and bridge. This guitar is about as appointed as it gets!
In traditional Dove fashion, the guitar is built with premium grade Sitka Spruce for the top and beautifully flamed Maple for the back and sides. The multi-piece Flamed Maple neck features a bound Ebony fingerboard with a total of 16 doves inlaid across it. An Ebony bridge with a pair of doves matches up beautifully with the fingerboard and peghead overlay. The pearl-inlaid purfling and rosette combined with the incredibly ornate pickguard combine for some serious wow factor.
Tonally, this Doves In Flight has the characteristic dry, punchy Gibson tone with great volume and and signature presence provided by the Maple body and neck. It's a fabulous sounding strummer that has a distinct long-scale snap and response with a very comfortable playing neck.
Condition: Excellent. Purchased new by its original owner and meticulously well-kept. The only change to the instrument was the installation of a factory direct Gibson Custom pickguard Doves In Flight replacement (the original pickguard had delaminated from the body in certain areas). A matching gold-plated strap button was previously installed on the neck heel.
