If you've ever wanted your Tele to drive an amp harder while staying recognizably a Tele, this is the set for that.

These are wound by hand in the Fender Custom Shop by Josefina Campos - Fender's Master Pickup Winder and one of the most respected names in the craft (you can only acquire her pickups in Masterbuilt guitars, btw). The Red Hot set is the hotter end of her Tele lineup: overwound for higher output, with real midrange bark and a bright top-end edge.

The voicing comes down to deliberate choices in the parts. The bridge pickup uses alnico 5 magnets, which add focus and dynamic snap (the punch and clarity you reach for when you want a Tele to cut). The neck pickup runs alnico 2 instead, for a warmer attack and a rounder, smoother midrange. Both are wound with enamel-coated wire, which leans the overall tone a little warmer and thicker, with more midrange presence than a typical vintage-output set.

The extra output is the point here. These pickups are built to push an amp into overdrive on their own - to get a cranked, sizzling Tele voice without leaning on a pedal - while still holding onto the string-to-string clarity and twang that makes a Telecaster a Telecaster.
