To celebrate the Stratocaster’s 70th anniversary, the Fender Custom Shop proudly presents a limited-edition collection honoring its iconic heritage and tones.
In the spring of 1954, Fender introduced the Stratocaster – an instrument that would forever redefine the music landscape. With its sleek, contoured double-cutaway body, three single-coil pickups, and groundbreaking synchronized tremolo, the Strat quickly became a cornerstone of modern music. Over the past seventy years, its unmistakable voice has inspired countless players across generations.
The roasted maple neck – paired with a 10/56 V carve and a 9 1/2" radius – is a highlight of this guitar. It’s the kind of neck that feels instantly familiar, is perfectly shaped, and brings a ton of resonance and snap to the party.
Under the hood, the hand-wired '54 pickups deliver the unmistakable sparkle, clarity, and dynamic range of the earliest Strat tones. But here’s where it gets cooler: Fender used a Fat '60s bridge pickup which adds a touch more punch and warmth, giving this LTD Strat a versatile sonic palette that thrives clean, dirty, and everywhere in between. The result? Lush highs, tight lows, and no anemic bridge pickup tones.
Clean or overdriven, this Strat sounds awesome and possesses a warmth that you sometimes encounter on vintage Strats (usually 60s models). The combination of classic hand-wired pickups, modern-leaning neck specs, and that roasted maple feel results in a playing experience that is really inspiring – the very reason we’re tempted to order even more with these specs.
